Na-maintain ng TV giant na GMA Network ang kanilang slight TV ratings advantage laban sa ABS-CBN sa viewer-rich Mega Manila from January to May 2010, according sa survey results ng AGB Nielsen Philippines.
Nasa Mega Manila ang 55 percent ng total television households sa buong bansa.
From January to May Mayo, nakakuha ang GMA-7 ng average na 35.6 percent audience share, mas mataas ng 0.7 points sa 34.9 percent ng ABS-CBN.
Ang television adaptation ng comic series na Darna ni Mars Ravelo na pinagbidahan ni Marian Rivera ang nanguna sa listahan ng Top 10 programs.
Pasok din sa Top 10 ang iba pang GMA-produced shows like The Last Prince nina Kris Bernal at Aljur Abrenica, ang romantic comedy na Full House starring Richard Gutierrez at Heart Evangelista, ang first kantaserye in Philippine television na Diva ng Asia’s Songbird na si Regine Velasquez, at ang banner newscast ng GMA na 24 Oras.
Tinalo ng 24 Oras (26.6 percent) ang TV Patrol World ng ABS-CBN (25.1 percent) during the same period.
Last May election, mas tinutukan ang election coverage ng GMA Network na ELEKSYON 2010. From May 10 to 11, ELEKSYON 2010 gets a 12.3 percent average rating kumpara sa 10 percent ng ABS-CBN. Last May 10, nakapag-register ang ELEKSYON 2010 ng 12.6 percent household rating, compared sa 11.1 ng ABS-CBN na HALALAN 2010. On May 11, mas tumaas pa ang lamang ng GMA election coverage sa 3.5 percent.
Samantala, na-maintain rin ng GMA 7 ang lamang nito sa isa pang key area — Urban North/Central Luzon — kung saan merong 21 percent ng over-all national television households sa buong Pilipinas. From January to May, nakapag-register ang Kapuso network ng 40.5 percent audience share or 7.6 percentage higher than ABS-CBN na may 32.9 percent.
Last Friday night, June 18, nagkaroon ng musical extravaganza ang GMA Network in Araneta Coliseum with theme, "Touching Hearts, Enriching Lives," to celebrate their 60th anniversary. Mapapanood ito this Sunday at SNBO slot.
