The kids are trying to enjoy the Christmas spirit with each other by decorating the choir room together. Mr. Schue thinks they should spread the cheer and go caroling throughout the classrooms to raise money for charities. It doesn’t go so well because well..the kids are still losers no matter how many competitions they win. They’re on an island of misfit toys if you will. Finn tries to encourage the group to not let this get them down. He loves Christmas and probably embodies the spirit the best out of all of them.
Brittany loves Christmas too. LOVES it. Just like a child does. In fact, Artie finds out she still believes in Santa Claus. She’s so convinced of his power and magic she can’t wait to ask him for what she wants for Christmas. Artie asks the club to keep up the charade of Santa being real and asks them to go with them to visit a mall Santa. They all go to sit on his lap and ask for their gifts but it’s Brittany who’s super excited. She sits on his lap and tells him the only thing she wants for Christmas is for Artie to walk again. AWWWWWWW. Between her enthusiasm and Artie’s “Oh sh*t” look on his face, that was so cute. Things just got a little difficult for him.
Rachel is pretty convinced that Finn is going to forgive her any second for kissing Puck. She arranges a performance and tries to apologize to him through song but he’s not interested and walks out. Not one to waste a prime opportunity to belt one out, she sings it anyway. It’s kind of depressing all by herself watching all the other couples while she sings Merry Christmas Darling. Speaking of happy couples..kind of..Oh my gosh I love Blaine. He asks Kurt to help him practice for a performance of Baby It’s Cold Outside and ahh I’ve never seen anything so cute. I could watch Darren Criss sing this all day long. So adorable. Kurt being in love with him already makes so much sense.
The teachers participate in a Secret Santa. To his dismay, Will gets Sue’s name and he can’t think of anything to get her but a soul. The teachers find out that Sue rigged the Secret Santa so that she receives all the gifts. What a Grinch that woman is. I mean it. She paints herself green and goes to steal all her presents back and destroys the Glee club’s Christmas tree in the process. Why was that necessary? So mean. Anyone else think Sue is bipolar or something. Sheesh. She’s nice one week and evil the next. Rachel goes with Finn to get a new tree and isn’t giving up on getting him back. She tries to win him back singing Last Christmas to him through a Christmas tree lot. He breaks up with her. Guess he doesn’t like that song. But I love it. :D
The boys are in panic mode and ask Beiste to dress up as Santa and explain to Brittany that she won’t be getting her wish this Christmas. It’s no wonder Beiste isn’t excited to do that but she agrees. Brittany hears “Santa” in the middle of the night and sits down on the couch with him. Beiste explains to Brittany that her wish is a little difficult, but that patience would be a better gift in this case. Brittany is disappointed and heartbroken that Santa’s magic can’t cure Artie. Aww this is so sad. She thinks it’s so unfair that Artie can’t walk.
The club performs one last time for the faculty for charity donations and this inspires Sue to give all the gifts back. It looks like it inspired “Santa” too because the next morning, Brittany finds something under her tree. It’s some sort of robotic thing that enables Artie to walk. He shows it off to the club and they’re all shocked. It’s so magical I could cry. Brittany is convinced it’s from Santa and the rest of the group just believe it’s a Christmas miracle. Yay Artie! This episode was so great. It had the perfect balance of everything.
