Actress and former talk show host Ricki Lake is facing a lawsuit relating to a fire that damaged a Malibu home she rented last year in September of 2010.
Lake has been sued in Los Angeles County Superior County court by former landlord Hovsep Kousouyan, who alleges Lake with negligence after refueling some sort of portable heater when a couch caught fire and that set the whole house ablaze.
"Lake caused the oil to spill which was ignited by the hot heating coils which [Lake] had not allowed to cool. The flaming oil quickly caught hold and began to burn items inside the property. Lake failed or did not attempt to extinguish the fire." the lawsuit which was filed last week reads.
Kousouyan says his house was all but destroyed, and he wants Lake to reimburse him for all costs incurred.
He is seeking undisclosed damages for the house, which could easily run into the millions, given the size of the home and exclusive location.
Lake, however, has yet to respond to the suit.
